Ashanti Shequoiya Doug, also known as Ashanti, was born on the 13th of October, 1980 at Glen Cove New York United States. Ashanti is an United States singer, songwriter, and actress. Ashanti was famous when she was when she was a teen. The year 2002 was when she signed with Murder Inc. Records. Ashanti was featured as The Fat Joe's What's Luv? track and Ja Rule's Always on Time track. Both of them were huge hits. When she released What's Luv, at number two in the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States and Foolish at the top spot featuring Foolish being her first single, she was the only female to achieve this feat. What's Luv? Here, we will celebrate with you her special birthday. Ashanti Douglas, or Ashanti as she's popularly known, was born in Glen Cove New York in 1980. Tina Douglas her mother is a dance instructor from the past. Ken-Kaide Thomas Douglas, her father was a vocalist in the past. She is the oldest and she has a Kenashia Shia who's her younger sister. Douglas chose her name in honor of the Ashanti Empire located in Ghana where women held power as well as influence. Douglas wanted Ashanti to follow the same model.
