Swift was eleven years old when she sang The Star-Spangled Banner at a Philadelphia 76ers basketball game. In the following year, she began writing songs, and also picked up the guitar. Swift became inspired to write her own material by the music of country category, like Shania Twain or the Dixie Chicks. Swift was only 13 when her parents made the choice to sell their Pennsylvania farm and move to Hendersonville Tennessee. She could then devote all of her efforts to contacting the country music labels that were based in Nashville.
